The City of Needles has had <br /> <br />its municipal discharge permit reissued, which includes total <br /> <br />dissolved solids discharge requirements consistent with the <br /> <br />adopted Forum policy. <br /> <br />In issuing and reissuing <br /> <br />waste <br /> <br />discharge requirements the Regional Water Quality Control <br /> <br />Board has included, in the discharge permit requirements for <br /> <br />municipal discharges, a prohibition of brine backwash from <br /> <br />water softeners into ground waters vhich are in hydraulic <br /> <br />continuity with the Colorado River System. <br /> <br />Industrial <br /> <br />discharges are to be confined in impervious evaporation <br /> <br />basins. <br /> <br />Water Quality Management Planning - The Water Quality <br />Control plan for the combined East and West Colorado River <br /> <br />Basin, adopted by the California Regional Water Quality <br /> <br />Control Board and the State Water Resources Control Board in <br /> <br />-25- <br />
