Follow-up data and on farm detail data collection will be
collected over time. The follow-up and on farm data when analyzed
will provide for better recommendations. Planned treatment effects
indicate progress towards salinity reduction. Additional data
collection is needed to quantify effects.

Data collected has shown little to no change in planned amounts of
fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides, or machinery use. continued
study should be made of the effects on salinity reduction systems.
If studies show a decrease in leaching of pesticides, producers need
to be educated of the effects so they can modify their systems to
meet the changes. Savings in labor costs appears to offset the
annual installation cost for most improved irrigation systems. These
is a short term negative effect in cash flow.

Producer's. feel the main benefits to the improved systems are the
reduction in labor requirements, convenience, and deperidability of
water. Additional data gathering will be required to quantify these
beliefs.

..::;-'.
~.(~~/

I
I
I
I

crop budgets have been deve~oped for several
currently, insufficient data is available to
between the before and treatment conditions.
be made to develop this comparison.

4.
