.

IJflOnS

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

RunDff was estimated tD be prDpDrtiDnal tD mDnthly precipitatiDn

at IgnaciD in excess of Dne inch. This methDd prDvides a rDugh esti-

mate of mDnthly inflDWS. Since the tDtal estimated vDlume Df such

runDff (5,500 acre-feet per year) is equal tD Dnly seven percent of

the estimated virgin flow at BDndad, the cDntributiDn Df runDff frDm

the areas adjacent tD the lDwer Florida River is relatively insignifi-

cant.

2.

The initial estimate Df tributary inflDw was adjusted thrDugh cali bra-

tiDn Df the histDric streamflow estimates against the available gage

recDros. An DperatiDn study Df the FIDrida River was cDnducted

tD provide reasonable estimates Df mDnthly historic streamflDWS

fDr each stream segment. The operatiDn study included monthly

gage recDrds, estimates Df irrigatiDn diversiDns and return flows,

Durango water use, and tributary inflDws. Adjustments were made

in the estimates of tributary inflDws as initially develDped frDm

the informatiDn present Dn Figure 2. Since there may be inaccuracies

in the data fDr stream gage measurements, tributary inflows, irrigatiDn

diversiDns, and irrigatiDn return flDWS, it was impDssible tD achieve

a calibration which eliminates all discrepancies in the data. The

estimated average annual runDff value for each Df the tributary

areas as listed in Table 8 was derived Dn the basis of all Df the avail-

able data fDr the FIDrida River basin.

The estimated histDric streamflDws fDr the FIDrida River are listed in

Tables 9 through 11. FDr the years in which recDrds are available fDr the BDndad

and FIDrida Farmers Ditch gage sites, actual historic gage recDrds were used

in the summaries Df histDric flows.

.

.

.

-19-

,j~,:~
