<br />COLORADO-BIG THOMPSON PROJECT <br /> <br />Granby DaIll, Dikes, and Pumping Plant <br /> <br />Description: Granby Dam will be approximately 885 feet long and <br />will have a maximum height of 232 feet above the bed of the river. <br />Four earthfill dikes will be built in the low places in the rim of <br />the reservoir. The reservoir will have a capacity of 546,000 acre- <br />feet, <br /> <br />Granby Pumping Plant is a reinforced concrete plant with three <br />intake conduits, intake structure, intake canal, three steel outlet <br />pipes and four deep well turbine pumps. The pumping plant has a capac- <br />ity of 600 second-feet for a lift of 186 feet. The construction of <br />the Granby Pump Canal consists of earthwork, structures, installation <br />of gates, hoists, valves and metal work. <br /> <br />The structures consist of a concrete box culvert, three metal <br />pipe crossings over the canal, a bridge, drainage inlet, road cross- <br />ing, turnout to the wasteway, and the inlet to the Shadow Mountain <br />Reservoir. <br /> <br />Granby Dam and dikes are estimated to cost 08,488,000. The prime <br />contract for construction of the dam and dike No. 3 was awarded in <br />June 1946 for ~5,988,969. Granby Pumping Plant will cost ~5,690,OOO. <br /> <br />A graphic representation of the work. performed during the ye.~ <br />is shown on the opposite page. The following is a brief comparison <br />of the fiscal year 1949 program'for this portion of the project vs, <br />_t?e accoIIlP~~s~ents, <br /> <br />Program FY49 <br /> <br />Accomplishments--FY49 --- <br /> <br />On June 30 the following comple- <br />tion percentages were reported: <br />Granby Dam 89 percent; pumping <br />plant and canal 72 percent. <br />Strikes del~ed work during the <br />spring months. . <br /> <br />According to the contractor's <br />schedules, Granby Dam was to <br />be 84 percent complete by June <br />)0 and the pumping plant and <br />canal was to be 83 percent <br />complete. <br /> <br />34 <br />
