Twin Lakes storage was 130,920 acre-feet and
Mt. Elbert Forebay was 7,670 acre-feet.

H. Pueblo Reservoir

At the end of water year 1985, Pueblo Reservoir content was
245,260 acre-feet. The Winter Water Storage Program was in effect from
Novenber 14 through March 14, allowing the maximum dai ly storage in
Pueblo Reservoir of 30,460 acre-feet of water. Pueblo Reservoir reached
its maximum storage on Decenber 26 with an elevation of 4883.48 feet
and content of 278,650 acre-feet.

The high native runoff in the Arkansas River and the normal to above-
normal precipitation in the basin supplied most of the needs of the
water users below Pueblo Reservoir during water year 1986 (exhibits 13
and 14).

All of the 1985-1986 winter stored water plus only 9,820 acre-feet of
Project water were released from storage during water year 1986. The
water year ended with 252,000 acre-feet of water in storage in Pueblo
Reservoir.' The 1985-1986 winter water releases are shown on exhibit 15.

The pan evaporation rate used for computing Pueblo Reservoir evaporation
is shown on exhibit 16. Table 7 and exhibit 1"7 show Pueblo Reservoir
operations during water year 1986.

I. Storage Contracts

In water year 1986, the Project had 8 contracts for storage of
water in Project storage space in the East Slope Storage System. Six
are 1 ong-term contracts: Twin Lakes Reservoi r and Canal Company for
54,452 acre-feet, city of Colorado Springs for firm storage for
17,416 acre-feet, city of Aurora for 5,000 acre-feet, Pueblo Board
of Water Works for 5,000 acre-feet, High Line Canal Company for
10,000 acre-feet of storage space, . and Homestake Project for
30,000 acre-feet of storage space. The remaining contracts were I-year
interim contracts for if-and-when available storage space.

J. Project Water Sales and Del iveries

The Project made available 300,000 acre-feet of water to the
Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District (District) during
water year 1986. The District purchased 23,645.50 acre-feet of the
water made avai lable to them. The Distr.ict called for 9,820 acre-feet
of water during the year. The carryover Project water was also reduced
by 3,800 acre-feet of evaporation. By the end of September, the
District had 18,073.51 acre-feet of 1986-1987 water and 74,442.47 acre-
feet of carryover water. Of the 9,820 acre-feet of Project releases,
3,850 acre-feet was for municipal and industrial use. The Project
water released from Pueblo Reservoir is shown on exhibit 18.

.

.

12
