Stewart Williams is a native of Provo, Utah, and a graduate of Brigham Young. <br />Columbia, and George W Bshington universities. In 1934.35 he did a year of postdoctoral <br />work at Yale University. From 1935 to 1967 he was Professor of Geology and Head of the <br />Department of Geology at Utah State University, and from 1950 to 1967 Dean of Graduate <br />Studies at USU. As a Professor Emeritus he is now a consultant to the Utah Water Research <br />Laboratory and the USU Foundation, and others, specializing in hydrogeology and environ- <br />mental geology. <br /> <br />While Dr. Williams' principal contributions have been in stratigraphy, long teaching <br />assignments in hydrogeology and surficial. geology for students in soils. forestry. range <br />management and engineering, have created a second peak of interest and expertise in these <br />subjects.
