<br />2 <br /> <br />The new project as now designedl is composed of <br /> <br />4 dams and reservoirs extending a distance of 35 miles down <br /> <br />the Gunnison River from a point about 10 miles.below_the <br /> <br />City of Gunnison. The 4 dams will have an installed capacity <br /> <br />of 152,000 ~. and will cost 591,000,000, These costs include <br /> <br /> <br />480 miles of transmission line and 13 substations. It is <br /> <br /> <br />estimated that the power can be placed at market points at <br /> <br /> <br />a cost of 5.94 mills per ~N hour. <br /> <br /> <br />The new study indicates that the benefit cost ratio <br /> <br /> <br />will be 1.6 which is about the required 1.0. A feasibility <br /> <br /> <br />study must follow the status report just rendered _ the one <br /> <br /> <br />which gives the figures quoted above. However, it seems <br /> <br /> <br />there is no doubt but what the new project will fulfill <br /> <br /> <br />all requirements. At the present time the Curecanti Unit <br /> <br />is in the Upper Colorado River Storage Bill subject to a <br /> <br /> <br />feasibility report and certification to Congress and to the <br /> <br /> <br />President by the Secretary of the Interior that in his <br /> <br />judgment the benefits of this unit will exceed its costs. <br />
