Introduction

This report summarizes the project findings of the Southwest Irrigation District (SWID)
High Plains Groundwater Recharge Demonstration Project. Detailed information on the

The project is one of 13 demonstration projects implemented by the Bureau of Reclamation
(Reclamation) and local sponsors in cooperation with the Environmental Protection Agency
(EP A) and the Us. Geological Survey (USGS) under the "High Plains States Groundwater
Demonstration Program Act of 1983'. Public Law 98-434. The primary purpose of the act
is to advance state-of-the-art groundwater recharge techniques.

Participants

The SWID studied, constructed, and operates and maintains the project. The project was
funded jointly by the SWID and the Federal Government. The project participants were the
SWID, Idaho Department of Water Resources, Reclamation, EPA, USGS, and the U.s. Fish
and Wildlife Service.
