C. <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Page: <br /> <br />At a meeting of the Interstate Stream Commission of New <br />Mexico held at Santa Fe on' April 5, 1941, a committee representing <br />the water users of La Plata River in Colorado and a committee repre- <br />senting the water users of La Plata River in New Mexico appeared in <br />person and presented for consideration tl~ following memorandum <br />agreoment: <br /> <br />lfT"A PLATA PROJECT IN COLORADO AND NEW MEXICO <br /> <br />".-. "., <br /> <br />"At a joint meeting of the project representing <br />New Mexico and Colorado by Committees appointed by <br />water users of each of the States held at Durango, <br />Colorado, March 29, 1941, the following modified plan <br />for construction and irrigation developments in each <br />state was agreed upon: <br /> <br />"I. Tho construction of the State Line Reservoir <br />to an irrigation capacity of 12,000 acre feet, or a total <br />capacity of 32,000 acre feet including flood control and <br />s 11 t storage; <br /> <br />"2. The construction of the Long Hollow Reservoir <br />to an irrigation capacity of 14,000 acre feet; <br /> <br />n3. The project acreages in Colorado and New Mexico <br />to be determined by the Bureau of Reclamation, based upon <br />the available water supply. Tentative acruges, 3,800 for <br />New Mexico has been suggested as equitable, and such <br />acreage for Colorado as may be determined from studies <br />by the Reclamation Bureau so as to provide a firm water <br />supply for the areas in each of the states. <br /> <br />35 <br />
