The past two years have shown some improvement, <br /> <br />but recovery will be very slow without a permanent improve- <br /> <br />ment in water supply. <br /> <br />Number and Size of Farms. There are approximately 400 farm <br /> <br />holdings on the project, of which 155 are listed by the county <br /> <br />assessors as irrigated in whole or in part. In addition there <br /> <br />are 140 properties consisting of lots in Kline, V~rvel, and <br /> <br />Red Mesa to~~sites. The size of the holdings varies from one <br /> <br />acre to 3313 acres (omitting state lands). The average size of <br /> <br />all farms in the Colorado Division, (not including townsite <br /> <br />lots) is about 150 acres, and in the New Mexico Division, about <br /> <br />200 acres. The average irrigated area per farm is 40 acres in <br /> <br />Colorado and 70 acres in New Mexico <br /> <br />Farm Tenure. <br /> <br />Farm tenure on the project, for all farms over 20 acres, <br /> <br />is as follows: <br /> <br />21 <br />
