Less annual cost for operation and
maintenc.nce of' reservoir

3.000
$52,600

.

o~' 1869

From flood damage data, pages 77 and 79, the estimated

annual benefits for channel improvements through 1'rinidad are

$22,000 and $9,000, respectively, for capacities of 50,000 and
30,000 second-feet. In the first instance these are considered

equal to the elimination of damages resulting from floods of from

one to lOO-year frequency with an additionsl allowance of $4,800

for enhancement of land value in Trinidad. In the second instance

they are considered equal to the tilimination of damages resulting

from floods of from one to 25-year frequency with an additional

allowance of $1800 for enhancement of land value in Trinidad. No

irrigation benefits are estimated to accrue with this type of de-

velopment.

CONCLUSIONS

.

The project provides dual benefits of flood control and

irrigation. With costr; allocated to irrigation to the extent of

its water supply benefits, 0~rticipation in project costs for each

feature would be as fellows:

Remaindor

$2,781,000
456.000
$2,325,000

Total construction cost
Irrigation allocation

Annual benefits frem flood control elsewhero determined - $55,600

Net annual flood control benefit

Capitalizing net benefits at 3~%, the flood control ex-

penditure would be ~\1,235,000, or $1,090,000 less than the remainder

.

after allowing for irrigation benefits.

83
