<br />MISCELLANEOUS
<br />The Engineer Advisers want to make the Commission aware of two existing initiatives
<br />involving review of Rio Grande operations and river restoration. The first initiative is the Rio
<br />Grande/Rio Bravo Bi-National Symposium. The stated intent of this initiative is to provide
<br />enhanced flow in the Rio Grande below Ft.Quitman to Amistad Reservoir within existing
<br />institutional constraints. The second initiative, entitled "A Physical Assessment of the
<br />Opportunities for Improved Management of the Water Resources of the Bi-National Rio
<br />Grande Basin," appears to be an effort to evaluate water management operations of the entire
<br />basin for purposes of reallocating existing supplies of the Rio Grande.
<br />The Engineer Advisers discussed and agreed to continue discussing storage options
<br />upstream of Elephant Butte Reservoir.
<br />
<br />REPORTING
<br />The Engineer Advisers recommend that in the future the Commission consider the
<br />inclusion of the report of tpe Engineer Advisers and any resolutions passed by the
<br />Commission in the report of the Commission,.
<br />It was determined that errata for the J 996 report of the Commission, published in the
<br />1997 report of the Commission, had not been incorporated in subsequent reports. The
<br />Engineer Advisers recommend that this be corrected starting with the 2000 report of the
<br />Commission.
