The estimate
of 3200 AI' of water rupresents an uppe'r bound for the amount of converted
water, and was determined as follows:

1. Direct and indir\"ct water consumpti.ve use for 2.445 million annual
visitor-days.... .,. . .. ... . ..............'.. .... ........ .. .. . . . . . . . .

1120 AF

1 v.isitor-year
2445 000 visitor-days x --------------
365 visitor-Jays

1/6 AF
x --.------ = 1120 AF/yr
year

(1/6 AF per year is approximately 150 gallons per day. Current per capita
consumption in municipalities in the Denver metropolitan area is between
200 and 250 gallons per day.)

,2. 973 acres of marshland x 2.12 AF/ ac.. .. .. .. .. .. .. . .. .. .. .. . .. .. .. 2060 AI'

According to the Colorado Division of Wildlife, approximqtely 973
acres of land will be converted to marshland. Apprximately 200
acres will be in open water; the balance of the land--much of which
is currently hayland--will be used for wildlife habitat and aquatic
crops such as rice, millet, etc. In the absence of additional
details it seems reasonable that an upper bound for the consumptive
use of water for these purposes is given by the product of the marsh-
land acreage and the consumptive irrigation use factor of 2.l2 AF/acre.

3.'
