The ratio between the annual

trrigation cost of $314.867 and the irrigation benefit to the

nation as a whole previously estimated at $379.926 is 1:1.2l.

The relation between the annual costs of the project as a whole

and the annual flood control and irrigation benefits is 1:0.95.

It was estimated that payment by the local beneficiaries. together

with the proceeds from the mill levy for a district which might

be organized tD finance the project, would not exceed $42,327 per

year. This leaves a deficit of $126,741 with respect to the re-

.

payment of the irrigation features. An extended repayment period

Df 183 years would be required to repay the costs allDcated to

irrigation. However. the irrigation pool probably would be com-

pletely filled with sediment in 89 years.

From the fDregoing analysis it was concluded that the project

at the present time is infeasible. It is suggested that local

interests seek the construction of the authorized channelization

project, and that the storage project be reinvestigated at some

future date when construction costs have lowered and when and if

Congress liberalizes the reclamation law.
-25-
