The location of specific improvements
will not be known until each farmer decides on specific elements for the
conservatl'on plan on his land. The Soil Conservation Service will
encourage establ ishment or improvement of upland wlldl ife habitat during
planning with individual landowners; however, the landowner's partici-
pation in any practice to improve wildlife haBitat Is voluntary.

Cost sharing assistance for wildl ife practices may be available through
the Agricultural Conservation Program depending upon local priorities of
the County ASCS Committee. Therefore, consideration will be given to
local impacts when the conservation plan is developed for each farm and
ranch.

JOINT BR-SCS ASSESSMENT FOR GRAND VALLEY

A joint BR-SCS environmental assessment for the Grand Valley program has
been prepared to document impacts of the structural and nonstructural
measures on water qual ity of the Colorado River and on biota and esthetic
values in the Grand Valley.

JOINT BR-SCS PROGRAM ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT ON COLORADO RIVER
WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

An environmental statement prepared by the Bureau of Reclamation,
Department of the Interior, and Soil Conservation Service, USDA, pre-
sents cumulative impacts of the Colorado River Basin Sal inity Control
'program and includes information on impacts of the program in the Grand
Valley Unit.

29
