In 194 I, it <br />was renamed in honor of Arthur Powell <br />Davis, director of Reclamation from <br /> <br />Where is Davis Dam? <br />Davis Dam is in Pyramid Canyon, 67 <br />river-miles below Hoover Dam and <br /> <br />52 <br /> <br />1914 to 1923. Davis's courage, foresight, <br />and vision helped spark the beginning of <br />Colorado River development. <br /> <br />When did construction of Davis Dam <br />begin? <br />The dam was authorized in April 1941, <br />and construction began in August 1942. <br />Some excavation was undertaken, but the <br />demands of World War II halted work <br />in December of the same year. Work <br />resumed in March 1946. <br />
