Sarrett
Regional Director
Bureau of Reclamation
Upper Colorado Regional Office
P. O. Box 11558
Salt Lake City, Utah 84147

Dear Mr. Barrett:

My staff has reviewed the proposed canal lining concept for
the Big Sandy salinity control project and advise me that it
appears to be a cost-effective approach to the salinity problem
in the Big Sandy River. It also appears that the "saved" water
may provide additional benefits to the state of Wyoming. Based
on these findings, I would recommend and support the further
planning and investigation efforts of the Bureau to line the
canals in the Big Sandy Area.

the
so
Big

I would also urge that the high level of cooperation between
Bureau, the Soil Conservation Service and the state continue
that we will be able to resolve the salinity problem in the
Sandy drainage.

~ourjlsincerelY,

b,(/f2.~<--' ~J 0 ~ ~

!JHiY1W1:

c ~.> 1 . . ~....
--:.. _. .- i
