IS in Denver and Oct. 22 on the
West Slope.
The discussions are the outgrowth of a meeting held in September between DNR and the
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) with Colorado water user and environmental
organization representatives.
"The Recovery Program operates on consensus among the states of Colorado, Wyoming
and Utah, federal agencies, environmental groups and water users. Some water users had
expressed sufficient opposition to certain Recovery Program activities that all Colorado
participants and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service agreed that a dialogue among Colorado's
water users was essential," Lochhead said. "If water users are not united in their approach to the
recovery effort, it creates confusion and distrust among all program participants."

- more -

Board of Land Commissioners.
