This tabulation shows the total investment costs could range from about
$690 million to $770 million, depending upon which alternatives are selected
as the recommended plans for construction.

In the September 1981 Saline Water Use and Disposal Opportunities Special
Report, investment and annual costs were calculated for local use energy
development alternatives at various saline water sources. In all cases,
only the costs of providing water to the powerplant boundary were included.
The necessary incremental costs for using the saline water for cooling were
not considered at this time. Table 8 presents those costs.

Table 8. - Investment and annual costs - local use energy development [IJ

Source

Investment Annual cost $ per mglL
cost 1/
$145,150,000 $14,550,000 $1,820,000
95,000,000 9,000,000 750,000
66,700,000 6,300,000 900,000
70,112,000 6,104,000 1,017,000
64,000,000 6,300,000 790,000
47,000,000 5,000,000 1,000,000
37,000,000 4,000,000 1,330,000
24,304,000 3,135,000 392,000
289,000,000 29,000,000 810,000
40,000,000 5,000,000 625,000
$878,266,000 $88,389,000 $ 943,400
(average)

Big Sandy River
~ Grand Valley
~ Lower Gunnison~~
\.- McElmo Creek"",,,
Ui nt a Bas in ("'1 ~,'"
Price River
San Rafael River
LaVerkin Springs
-- Las Veg as Wash ,"l
Palo Verde Irrigation
District
V" j?
