<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Board staff continues to work with California agencies in the development of appropriate <br />responses to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's (USFWS) preparation of draft recovery goals for <br />the four endangered fish of the Colorado River Basin. It is our understanding that the publication <br />of the draft recovery goals in the Federal Register has been delayed in order to permit additional <br />~ review of the proposed package by interested stakeholders. To this end, the USFWS has distributed <br />copies of the complete document for each of the fish. Comments are requested by the close-of- <br />business on April 20, 200 I. <br /> <br />Status of California Fully Protected Species Efforts <br /> <br />A meeting of the California Fully Protected Species Working Group has been scheduled for <br />April 12, 2001, in Sacramento, California. The working group will continue to provide technical <br />and policy guidance associated with the development of a potential legislative fix for the fully <br />protected species issue. Mr. Wonhley will attend the meeting on behalfofthe Board. Additionally, <br />a hearing before the Assembly Water, Parks & Wildlife Committee has been scheduled for April 24, <br />2001. At this hearing the California Department ofFish and Game will provide the committee with <br />an informational overview of species listed as fully protected, as well as a biological status repon <br />of those species. Mr. Harris will attend this hearing in Sacramento, California. <br /> <br />\ .
