Only at the Ferris Canyon Campground (FCC) site (which has the lowest gradient and
best habitat of the three sites) has total trout density shown some recovery. Even so, it is still 37%
lower than the peak density observed in September 1989.

Similarly, total trout biomass (for all trout ~ IS cm) is currently at a 5-year low at the MC and RSA
stations (fable 3). The FCC site is at a 4-year low.

The trout population in the 20-40 cm (8-16 inches) size range has also shown a severe decline. Once
again, species and total trout density estimates are significantly lower in most instances in 1990 and
1991 compared to September 1989 (fable 4). Density and biomass estimates at the MC site for
October 1991 are at a 6-year low, a 5-year low at the RSA site, and a 4-year low at the FCC site
(fables 4 and 5).
