The

sdditional increment of inflow is well shown in 1978 which was a dry year

and the reservoir was pulled down more than usual: as shown in Table 4

and the graph for 1978. the additional inflow waa about 28 cia in

December which resulted in a total inflow of 81 cia.

J../~
uJA"d~
~I+' -Y....:...
~p.!>'" ......Wj
" , ~O,
..j-~I" '

Tables 1 through 4 also show the upstream potential depletions resulting

from both senior water rights not implemented before 1978 and potential

depletions from Green Mountain Reservoir water sales. The tables

indicate that for these years the only months where upstream depletions

would reduce inflows below 50 cia would be in December 1977 (61-10-3 = 48

cfs) and January 1977 (58-8-3 = 47 cfs).

.

This analysis was made on the basis of a'il!rage monthly depletions. The

maximum depletion resulting from Green Mountain Reservoir water sales is

shown as 10 cfs while Jin~ta;;~usdepletions could reach 5 or 6 cfa_/

Imore,) However. the method of operating Dillon reservoir acts as a buffer

to average out flue tuations in incoming flows: storage vo lumes cannot be

measured accurately to closer than 100 acre-feet or more and 100

acre-feet is equal to a continuous~ change in inflow for 5 days.

Eugene Rumph
November 13. 1985

.

:f

, .

"

..

~""" ...,,~ > >x--,__,_

...~
",.': -^-, '-i:8'
~ k_~i>e-dt; J-"~1-~~
