cranes and 20 species of shorebirds. At least 20 species of raptors use the

area as well as a variety of songbirds.

3. Federally listed threatened or endangered (T or E) species.

The Refuge is designated as critical habitat for the whooping crane. Bald

and golden eagles are winter visitors in the area. The peregrine falcon is an

infrequent visitor in the area. The proposed land and appurtenant rights to be

acquired are adjacent to the Refuge and should enhance habitat for these species

under FWS management.

C. Flood plain management and protection of wetlands

The proposed action has been evaluated with regard to the requirements of

Executive Orders 11988 (Floodplain Management) and 11990 (Protection of

Wetlands).

Under Refuge management, the continued use of water for wetland and pasture

irrigation would likely improve wetland areas. Accordingly, no negative impacts

on wetland or flood plain areas are expected.

D. Cultural resources

Reclamation's proposed acquisition of the Lillpdp lands would convert these

lands to Federal ownership. In summary, cultural resource protection would be

provided by various Federal laws related to cultural resource management.

f'; ..~; '1":.1Ii {~
'\..
