The Southern Ute Indian and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribes, hendquartered in Ignatio <br />and Towaoc, Coloraclo, respectively, have reservation lands within the Animas and La Plata Rivers <br />drainages, as well as in drainage basins of other streams tributaty to the San Juan River.
