Local flood protection projects at Florence, Portland, Pueblo (Dry Creek),

La Junta (King and Anderson Arroyos), and La Junta (reach 2 - urban, Arkansas

River; the Arkansas River Floodway, Brewster to Florence; and the Fountain Dam

and Lake for flood control, general recreation and fish and wildlife enhancement;

all generally in accordance with the plan of the District and Division Engineers,

except for the Arkansas River Channelization, Puebelo to Las Animas, which has

been:deleted in these recommendations, and with such modifications thereof as

in the discretion of the Chief of Engineers may be advisable, at an estimated

cost to the United States of $39,019,000 for construction (excludes $3,872,000

for land, water, and other items to be furnished by local interests in connection

with the local flood protection, floodway improvements, and Fountain Lake),

and $119,300 annually for operation, maintenance, and major replacements

(excludes $181,200 annually for operation, maintenance, and major replace-
