N
f..:l
r.~
.;;..

Wetland Impacts
Starting in FY 95, wetland values are being quantified using
AREM. Impacted wetlands in new salinity contracts are evaluated and
tracked using AREM. Wetlands evaluated in older contracts using the
Colorado NRCS Wetland Evaluation Procedure are being converted to AREM
when the contracts expire and are completed.
It is estimated that implementation of the 255 salinity contracts
will result in the net gain of 34.4 acres of wetland and a net gain of
52.91 wetland unit values (WUV's) These projected gains are from
creation of wetland on upland sites and the enhancement of existing
wetlands.
On the 41 completed contracts a net gain of 0.9 acres of wetland
and a net gain of 20.42 WUV's has occurred.

Habitat Evaluation
Changes in cover type acreage and habitat unit values (HUV's) for
existing and planned conditions for 21.1. of the 255 funded salinity and
6 of the 33 CWHEP contracts are found in tables 4 and 5, respectively.

Table 4.
