The USDA onfarm report is sCheduled <br /> <br />for completion in October 1984 while Reclamation's report is <br /> <br />scheduled for completion in FY 1985. <br /> <br />Saline Water Use and Disposal Opportunities (Saline <br /> <br />Water Cooling Tower Verifical!QE-f~Q~~~~l - Reclamation is <br /> <br />working with the Forum, BPA, utilities, and others to <br /> <br />identify a proper site and cost-sharing possibilities for <br /> <br />installation of a saline water cooling tower at a power plant <br /> <br />located in the Colorado River Basin. <br /> <br />Installation of a <br /> <br />binary cooling tower at an existing power plant appears to be <br /> <br />the most cost-effective way to verify the use of saline water <br /> <br />to provide salini ty control benefi ts and address industr ies' <br /> <br />concerns regarding equipment reliability. <br /> <br />Cost-sharing <br /> <br />agreements, equipment design, and an operational plan for <br />installation and operation of the verification unit are <br /> <br />expected to be completed in FY 1984, with installation of the <br /> <br />verification facilities scheduled for initiation in FY 1985. <br /> <br />Saline Water Use and Disposal 6pportunities (AQUATRAIN) <br />In November 1982 an agreement was signed between Reclamation <br />and W.R. Grace & Co. An agreement was signed in Narch 1983 <br /> <br />with Bureau of Land M2nagement to do ~orridor screening and <br /> <br />environmental stuuies. <br /> <br />Private interests and other Federal <br /> <br />agencies are providing personnel for this study which is <br /> <br />expected to be completed in FI 1985. <br /> <br />-19- <br /> <br />.k~ <br />
