<br />This application would transfer water rights previously used <br /> <br />on land in the McPhee Reservoir area of the Dolores Project <br />o <br />~ to augment the depletions resulting from the operation of <br />CJ1 <br />tv Paradox Valley well field. The water would provide replace- <br /> <br />ment for the trIbutary saline water which would be pumped <br /> <br />from the well field along the Dolores River to insure that <br /> <br />downstream I-later users are not injured. <br /> <br />The state of <br /> <br />Colorado, acting through the Division of Water Resources and <br /> <br />the Colorado Water Conservation Board, has filed "Statements <br /> <br />of Opposition" in this water right proceeding. <br /> <br />Under <br /> <br />Colorado law, this is standard procedure to establish party <br /> <br />standing in the case. The state of Colorado will work with <br /> <br />the Bureau of Reclamation in an effort to resolve any issues <br /> <br />which this filing may raise. No other entities have entered <br /> <br />the proceedings. <br /> <br />Construction funding for the Paradox Valley Unit for FY <br />1983 is $3,620,000. The funding for fiscal year 1984 is <br />$6,068,000. <br /> <br />Grand Valley Unit <br /> <br />Both USDA and Reclamatidn are involved in the Grand <br /> <br />Valley Unit. Reclamation activities are divided into Stage <br /> <br />One and Stage Two project areas. USDA onfarm water manage- <br /> <br />ment and salinity control efforts are underway project-wide. <br /> <br />Reclamation - The lining of 6.8 miles of the Government <br /> <br />Highline Canal Stage One is complete. The associated <br />laterals were completed prior to the 1983 irrigation season. <br /> <br />-8- <br />
