1/

.-

.

TO THOSE WHO MADE IT POSSIBLE

In changing employment from the Watershed Division of the State
Land Department to the Southwestern Region of the Forest Service, I wish
to express my sincerest gratitude to the many people wbo belped initiate and
develop the Arizona Watershed Program.

It bas been a privilege to work for Commissioner Lassen, a flne admin-
istrator and a man wbo bas endeared himself to all the employees of the
Department through bis persooal concern for tbe well being of each and
everyone of us. It bas been a privilege to work with my many associates in
the Department who have helped the Division carry out its assignments and I am
especially indebted to Margueritte Smith whose cbeerful thoughtfulness brightened
even the most repetitive daily chores of tbe office. It has been a privilege to
work with members of the Arizona Water Resources Committee and subcommittees
and particularly Kel Fox, Rich Johnson and Bud Cooper wbo carried the main
responsibility for giving me their wise and patient guidance. It bas been a
privilege to keep in toucb with our Senators and Congressmen in Washington
wbose dedicated support made possible tbe various watershed projects. It has
been a privilege to work with the many people from our scbools, from State
and Federal agencies and from private industries who in one way or another
made important contributions to tbe watershed program.

Looking to the future, the opportunity to continue in watersbed manage-
ment activities under tbe capable leadership of Regional Forester Fred Kennedy
and Assistant Regional Forester Lowell Woods will be equally rewarding.

Gratefully yours,

r-

JOSEPH F.
