PROGR}u'lS <br /> <br />Program Title: Prevention of Waste and Protection of Correlative Rights. <br /> <br />Target Public: Oil and gas industry and royalty interests. <br /> <br />Purpose: To prevent or assist in preventing waste, to avoid the drilling <br />of unnecessary wells or to protect correlative rights of owners .the Commission <br />conducts hearings: to establish drilling units for the production of oil <br />and gas that are not smaller than the area that can-efficiently and econ- <br />omically be drained by one well; to limit production in a field on a reasonable <br />basis so that each property will have the opportunity to produce or receive <br />its equitable share; to pool interests within a drilling unit for develop- <br />ment and operation thereof; to authorize unit operations for fields for <br />secondary or enhanced recovery operations to maximize ultimate recovery. <br /> <br />Program Title: Field Inspections and Pollution Control <br /> <br />Target Public: Oil and gas producers and landowners <br /> <br />Pllrpusc: There ilr~ over 4200 producing oil and gas lC3ses in tIle State. <br />Field inspections insure proper production practices are being maintained to <br />prevent pollution to fresh water supplies and to eliminate hazards to <br />wildlife from oil accumulations on produced water retaining pits.
