<br />C"': <br />-- <br />~ <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />(~:.'f/"~-':':' <br />~,. -.' <br /> <br />BUREAU OF RECLAMATION REPORT <br /> <br />Introduction <br />- <br /> <br />" ." <br /> <br />The Seedskadee project is planned to divert water from the Green <br />River, principal tributary of the Colorado River, for the irrigation of <br />desert lands in southwestern Wyoming, The project is among the first <br />developments recommended by the Upper Colorado River Commission for par- <br />ticipation in the benefits and revenues of the Colorado River Storage <br />project, the master project in a broad plan to obtain the fullest possible <br />development of the. land and water resources in the upper basin. Addi- <br />tional information on the relation of the Seedskadee project to the stor- <br />age project is given in the Bureau of Reclamation report of September 1950, <br />entitled Colorado River Storage Project ~ Participating Projects. <br /> <br />The Seedskadee project investigations have been sponsored by the <br />Bureau of Reclamation. Cooperative investigations have been made by <br />the Fish and Wildlife Service) National Park Service, and Public Health <br />Service. Findings of these agencies are Summarized in reports accompany- <br />ing this report. Other Federal agencies, including the Bureau of Indian <br />Affairs, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Mines, Federal Power Com- <br />mission, Corps of Engineers, and Soil Conservation Service, have reviewed <br />the project plan and have offered to cooperate in carrying out the plan <br />or have disclaimed interest in the development. <br /> <br />During the course of project investigations helpful data and services <br />were provided by the Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, <br />Geological Survey, Wyoming State Engineer, Wyoming State Planning and Water <br />Conservation Board, and the University of Wyoming. Individual farmers <br />in neighboring irrigated areas also contributed helpful information. Free <br />use was made of applicable information in previous reports and investi- <br />gations related to the project area, <br /> <br />Authority to make this report and supporting investigations is pro- <br />vided in the Federal reclamation laws (Act of June 17, 1902, 32 Stat. 388), <br />and acts amendatory thereof or supplementary thereto, particularly the <br />Boulder Canyon Project Act (45 Stat. 1057) and the Boulder canyon Project <br />Adjustment Act (54 stat. 744). <br /> <br />General Discussions <br /> <br />The Seedekadee project area is in the Upper Green River Basin. A <br />small portion of the project is in Lincoln County, Wyo., and the remain- <br />der is in Sweetwater County, Wyo. The lands lie from 6,200 to 6,500 <br />feet above sea level. They are situated along both sides of Green River <br />between the mouths of Fontenelle Creek and Bitter Creek and on both sides <br />of Big Sandy Creek near the creek's confluence with Green River. <br />
