Status of Investigations. - A preliminary investigation to aCCl,uire
data to evaluate the fish and wildlife aspects of the Seedskadee project
has only recently been completed. These preliminary evaluations are based
principally on biological data furnished by the Wyoming Game and Fish Com-
mission and supplemented by information acquired through interviews and
field reconnaissance by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

GENERAL IlESCRIPl'ION OF THE PROJECT

4. Purpose of Project.- The Seedskadee project, as proposed by the U. S.
Bureau of Reclamation, is designed to provide water by diversion for the
irrigation of 60,720 acres of sagebrush land located along the banks of
the Green River in Sweetwater County, Wyoming.

5. Topography. - The Green River originate s in Wyoming near Double Top
Mountain, elevation 10,867 feet, m.s.l., from whence it flows approxi-
mately 480 miles in a southerly direction to empty into the Colorado
River near Sentinel Rocks in Utah. Elevation at the mouth of Green River
is approximately 4,000 feet, m.s.l. The headwater region of the river is
characterized by high mountains, and the flows of the river are somewhat
regulated by the Green River Lakes through which the stream flows. Within
the project area the Green River flows through rolling sagebrush hills,
but corrosive river action cuts deep canyons near its confluence with the
Colorado River.

6. The Seedskadee area comprises the narrow bottom lands and benches
along the Green River and lower portions of Big Sandy Creek as formed by
lateral cutting of the streams at different base levels.
