This increase in population has <br /> <br />occurred primarily in the larger cities and towns with some <br /> <br />decrea~es experienced in many of the rural farming areas of <br />the basin. <br /> <br />The anticipated industrial expansion of the basin <br />including shale oil, coal and other lesser industrial devel- <br />opments, indicate the population of the basin may well reach <br /> <br />a total of from 400,000 to 425,000 persons by the year 2000. <br />It is anticipated that the larger centers of population would <br />be located in the Rifle-DeBeque section of the Colorado River <br />Valleyi the Glenwood Springs-Carbondale section of the Roaring <br /> <br />45 <br /> <br />; J <br />
