In
genera:]., the land located in the tributary strean. basins re-
quires 'additional water while the land located along the Colo-
rado River has a full irrigation water supply. The annual
stream 'depletion of subbasin runoff resulting from irrigation
is estimated to be $3,600 acre feet.
The population of the subbasin in 1960 was 6,369.

The watler diverted annually from natural stream runoff for
municipal, doniestic and industrial use is estimated to not

exceed 3,000 to 3,500 acre feet of which about 2,200 acre

feet are consumptively used vii th the balance returning as

a part of the river flow downstream.
The estin;ated present stream depletion of the Rifle-

1/est Divide Subbasin runoff is sun~arized in the following

table:

Present Stream Depletion - Acre Feet

':'A verage annual strean, depletion by
irrigation
Average annual stream depletion by
municipal and industrial use
and reservoir evaporation

$3,600

2.200
$5,$00

Total annual strean; depletion

*Includes allowance for natural vegetation, seeped
land and water surfaces without limitation to man-
made depletion.

29

d
