E:N'DATIONS

1.

As Williams Creek emerges from the Wilderness, the nutrient
levels increase. The only apparent source is runoff from
irrigated pastures adjacent to the stream and reservoir.

2.

high, with phosphorous being
Nitrates instead of phos-
factor preventing a large
nitrogen-phosphorous ratio

The measured nutrient levels are
the greatest individual problem.
phates appear to be the limiting
scale nuisance algae bloom. The
.. 'is low.

3.

To date, nutrient enrichment has .resulted in a highly productive
fishery with some nuisance aquatic vegetation .and color changes
appearing during 1976. Further nutrient input would almost
certainly be detrimental.

4.

Other data and observations such as pH, dissoived oxygen, and
color complement the nutrient data in suggesting an enriched
situation.

5.

At lea~t a one time monitoring of the lake each year should be
continued. Discussion with the Division of Wildlife and Colorado
Water Quality Control Division should be initiated to discuss
possible solutions to the problem should it worsen.

6.

Chapter IV contains the data analysis and oasis for the above
statements.

4

I ,- - ..
;:)\.~~'7':~;::r:~"~-';\'::'" ~,."..;)).:.e";"~~-:'7':~':':"';i;'7?1\;:~;(~~?;S~:;E0tii':;~;\~~~{f'.\;;)::" ':\;.:-;~F:;;>. jI.~.~.'l.!... .~:";T:".
-,-;" ,'" ~ ". !~ii\:..-""
~~,; '~"._>~ "c." . r - "-i<,/::" ; ;-.><-.,';t,.'

" ", ': ,~::~,,"~~};~':',fftf~

."-,,,'

'-<,
.,

~t1~
~:~.~t;t;
~;:5;,j
~~~~:>~/:~;
~J;':i-'i'~
~
~f.~;
::',~<_:.;.-t~'
(',1P.,,~
~1.i
.'." .:~.:.
!::~C:~f.}l
:;\~:'~f.~~i,'~
\t1/.;:~.;~
.'-.,.".....
'\;::>7>.
,(,', ~~ :::\:~;~
':~i~!~.!
.,'"
.,i,;-.:;,;;
