-

~. '

N
N

'.

The water quality r:arameters -cf significance fc'r irrigation are
the mineral ion concentrations ~ ther'2for 2. L,tal dissolved solids will
be used as representative af mineral quaI; tv. Table I is a compilation
of flow and TDS data f'Jr stations sampl",d by the Bureau of Reclamation
in the Yellow Jacket area. The maximu," and minimum fl'JW and TDS concen-
trations are given along with the average flew and the flow weighted
means of the IDS concentration.

Figure 3 shows the IUS pickup ,'n a L,ns'.per-year basis in the White
River as the water leaves th~ mountains and Enters the plains. The
polluting effect of Meeker Spring is readily seen from the figure.

Water used fer irrigatio'1 in the Yampa Bas in comes from ThOl;nburg
Reservoir having a flow weighted medn IDS uf 256 mg/l. The water used
for irrigation in the White RivET Basin will consist of impoundments in
Lost Park Reservoir and White River flows. Stored water in Lost Park
Reservoir will be released to the White River and mixed with the normal
flow and yield a flow weighted mean TDS of appraximately 160 mg/l at
the head gate of Josephine Canal.
