Tb, Rangely plant 15 adequately providing <br />the needs of the community, and nG shortage pr0b12'!s <ire foreseen. <br />Craig, Colorado is the only ether tCMn in tht v 1c intty of the Yellow <br />Jacket Project; however, since it lies above the pr"'posed Project <br />development, the Project sh0uld have nO) effect 'ujkm Its water supply. <br /> <br />The State of Colorado haS record of ahout 40 w,',11s in the Project <br />area. Most of thE'se wells are USE'd f'"r' stock watering, irrigation, or <br />domestic supplies. These weIls range in dEpth flom 20 to 200 feet and <br />yield from 1 LO 50 gallons per minute (gpm~'. Rec0rds also show an <br />industrial well at a depth uf 7,026 feet with a yidd of 615 gpm. <br />Further east of Meeker there are several similar wells tapping the deep <br />aquifer for the oil industry. <br /> <br />Discharge from the Whitt, River is "xc~,ptL,n<il in its consistency of <br />fIow which is verified by the flew duration curves shown in Figure 2. <br />For example, 40% of the time th" fLMis eq'J<i} t,,:\ ur greCiter than 425 cfs, <br />while 99% of the time the fbw 13 equCil tG c" gn,arfcr than 225 cfs.* <br />The curves compare the White River near Mesker aod th2 typically western <br />Yampa River near Maybell" CuL,radu. The We,Lt" River is a reliable source <br />of water; therefore, pr0visions are bc,ing investigated by the Bureau of <br />Reclamation to supply SO'TIe of this wacer to the shale nil developers. <br /> <br />Qual ity of Water <br /> <br />The towns of M,eeker Bnd Craig take their wEter supply from the <br />White and Yampa Rivers, respectively, n",ar the muuntdios, and the quality <br />is relatively good as reflected by Cin average, TDS of 'i.77 mg/l for Meeker <br />and 260 mg/l for Craig.
