Amount of cheese processed at the Fort Morgan plant: <br />The cheese plant will process 1.4 millions of pounds <br />of mil~ a day, but has the capability of processing <br />two million pounds a day. <br /> <br />. Amount of water used in an average month: <br />The plant has used approximately 8,000,000 gallons a <br />month so far for its processing. <br /> <br />WESTERN SUGAR <br /> <br />Great Western Sugar Co. built the Fort Morgan factory in <br />1906 but closed it in 1984. Western Sugar Co. acquired the <br />factory in March, 1986. (See Attached article on the company's <br />history from the Fort Morgan Times). Not only is sugar produced <br />at the plant, but approximately 190 tons of pressed beet pulp and <br />beet pulp pellets and 160 tons of molasses are produced each day <br />along with 10,000 100 pound bags of sugar. Fcr the pas~ ~i~e <br />years Western Sugar has showed its commitment to its 250 growe'C's <br />through $18 million in paybacks. The company also r.as an annual <br />payroll of $4.4 million for its 325 employees. The plant also <br />pays $213,000 in taxes to the community every year. Approximate- <br />ly 14 semi-trailers holding 456,000 pounds of sugar are shipped <br />out of Fort Morgan each day during campaign. Sugar is also <br />shipped out in bulk totes containing 1,000 to 2,300 pounds of <br />sugar by rail. This last campaign saw 564,239 tons of beets <br />sliced. <br /> <br />. Amount of sugar processed last year: <br />1,444,923 100-pound bags of sugar were processed <br /> <br />. Amount of water required for processing: <br />An average of 7-8 million gallons a month was used <br />during ca~paign.
