?r: 7. Tasks performed in this study include (as extracted from the draft
report):

.

o
~
rv
00

The specific tasks to be performed for WR8
1. The disaggregation of ERDA and FEA energy supply and
demand projections to'WRC Regions and selected aggregated
subareas;
2. The determination of the unit water requirements and
intake and effluent water characteristics for alternative
energy technologies;

3. The projection of the total water requirements associated
with the ERDA and FEA energy projections by WRC Region
and selected ASA;
4. The identification of the water and related land re-
e source impacts of these energy futures from the point'
. of view of potential problems, conflicts, environmental

spillovers, and socio-economic effects;

s. The comparison of the implications identified in 4 with

those implicit in other energy scenarios (developed by

ERDA, FEA, WRC, or States and Regions).

A vast majority of the efforts implicit in these tasks has been

undertaken by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and Los

Alamos Scientific Laboratory (LASL). In order to facilitate their

analyses, it has been decided that a temporally integrated national/
regional energy future should be constructed and that Brookhaven
National Laboratory should assist in this endeavor.

.

-7-
