Introduction: The Board's role in development of the Closed Basin Project has been to acquire the State Land Board's land needed for project purposes and to contribute funds for recreation enhancement, As a master plan for recreation and for fish and wildlife is being jointly prepared by the Division of wildlife and Parks and Outdoor Recreation, it has become clear that initial estimates of costs are below the current projected costs, The current proposal for recreation facilities is at a reduced but fully satisfactory level of develo?ment, The estimated reimbursable cost to the state is $380,250, I support that level of expenditure and am convinced that any further reduction would impair anticipated recreational use, You will .recall that the authorized expenditure for the Closed Basin Project in SB 537 (1979) is $500,000, If you accept the recreational costs of $380,250, then the authorization would be exceeded as follows: land acquisition in project area $134,640 land acquisition for Russell Lakes 61,200 State share of recreational development (estimate) 380,250 $576,090 702 agendaj14c
