"

10

EXAMPLE METHODOLOGIES

Following are some examples of how this methodology was used in
the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Studies. The examples
include Grand Valley, Colorado; Uintah Basin, Utah; Big Sandy
River, Wyoming; McElmo Creek, Colorado; Price-San Rafael Rivers,
Utah: and Wellton-Mohawk Irrigation and Drainage District,
Arizona.

Evaluations of salt loading from different salinity units in the
ColoradO Basin illustrate some of the differences in the geo-
hydro-chemical processes. Each unit will have some features
unique to that unit, but basic hydrosalinity processes fall into
two categories: 1) Those irrigation projects along river systems
where the underlying aquifers' major salt supply is from
irrigation water; and 2) those units underlain with saline
geologic:'formations with an infinite salt supply.
