A Recreation Area <br />Management Plan. (RAMP) would be prepared, <br />Commercial recreation permitting would continue, <br />and use levelo would be established if necessary. If <br />necessary, use levelo and a permit system for private <br />recreation use would be implemented, The existing <br />primitive area boundary would be adjusted to include <br />all public lands in Management Unit 2, Acquisition of <br />40 acres of private land and all state-<lwned minerals <br />would be pursued, <br /> <br />Throughout the Planning Area, cleanup and periodic <br />patrols would be conducted, and commercial <br />recreation permitting would continue on a case-by- <br />case basis, <br /> <br />Gunnison Extensive Recrealion Management Area: <br />The remainder of the Planning Area would conlinue <br />/0 be managed as the Gunnison Extensive Recreation <br />Management Area (ERMA), Potential recreation <br />projects at Hartman's Rocks, Slate River, and High <br />Mesa would be considered, ROS settings would be <br />determined, If proposed for development, these <br />projects would be addressed in Recreation Project <br />Plans, <br /> <br />The 1,595-acre American Basin recommended <br />ACEC, Management Unit 4, and the 532-acre Dillon <br />Pinnacles recommended ACEC, Management Unit 9, <br />would be designated and managed for scenic and <br />recreation values, The 1,407-acre Slumgullion <br />Earthflow National Natural Landmark recommended <br />ACEC, Management Unit6, would be designated and <br />managed for geological interpretation, <br /> <br />Aboul 48,877 acres of public land, including <br />Powderhorn Primitive Area SRMA, would be closed <br />/0 off-highway vehicle use (OHV); OHV use on <br />74,428 acres would be limited seasonally, if <br />necessary for wintering elk and deer; OHV use on <br />97,714 acres would be limited to designated routes <br /> <br />yearlong; and 363,993 acres would be open /0 OHV <br />use, <br /> <br />Wild and Scenic River Study Segment. No portion <br />of the Lake Fork of The Gunnison River, including <br />the 13.3 mile long Study Segment A, which BLM <br />determined /0 be eligible for inclusion in/o the <br />National Wild and Scenic Riven; System (NWSRS), <br />would be recommended as being suitable for <br />designation and inclusion in/o the NWSRS. Values <br />and resources within Study Segment A would be <br />managed according to the prescriptions for <br />Management Units I, 4, and 15 and STANDARD <br />MANAGEMENT in Chapter Four of this PRMP, <br />Please refer to Appendix I for the wild and scenic <br />river analysis of slreams in the Planning Area, <br /> <br />Visual Resource Management. Public lands would <br />be managed according to the objectives for the <br />following Visual Resource Management (VRM) <br />Classes: VRM Class I: 49,872 acres; VRM Class II: <br />169,614 acres; VRM Class III: 135,738 acres; VRM <br />Class IV: 225,776 acres, Rehabilitation would be <br />considered on 4,812 acres classified as VRM Classes <br />IIR, II1R, and IVR, The 1,595-acre American Basin <br />recommended ACEC and the 5J2-acre Dillon <br />Pinnacles recommended ACEC, Managemenl Units <br />4 and 9 respectively, would be designated and <br />managed for scenic and recreation values, Federal <br />mineral estate in these recommended ACECs would <br />be withdrawn from mineral entry and location, Any <br />public lands in the Planning Area designated as <br />wilderness by Congress would be also designated and <br />managed according to VRM Class I objectives, <br /> <br />Wilderness Study Areas. The six Wilderness Study <br />Areas (WSAs) in the Planning Area, totalling about <br />114,247 acres, would be managed according /0 <br />BLM's Interim Management Policy and Guidelines <br />for Lands Under Wilderness Review (IMP) until <br />Congress decides on their designalion or non- <br />designation in/o the wilderness system, Any areas <br />acted upon by Congress and not designated into the <br />system would be managed according to Standard <br />Management and the Management Unil prescriptions <br />in which they occur in this PRMP, Until Congress <br />acts, actions in WSAs would be limited to those that <br />could occur under BLM's IMP, Areas designated as <br />wilderness would be managed as such, and a <br />management plan would be written for those areas, <br /> <br />Hi <br />
