This section extends for 10 miles from a tunnel to the Indian

Wash drainage shown on the Stage Two frontispiece map. At Indian

Wash, the privately developed laterals end and federally developed

laterals begin. Major existing waterway structures in this reach include

a 50-foot-long siphon under Lewis Wash and a 200-foot-long concrete flume

across Indian Wash.

The reach of canal has a capacity of 730 cfs for 8.5 miles from the

tunnel to the Lewis Wash siphon. This lined section would have a l2-foot

bottom width and a depth of 8 feet.

The remaining l. 5 mi les of th is

section would have a 670-cfs capacity with ll-foot bottom width and an

8-foot depth.

A check and wasteway structure would be constructed at Lewis Wash

and a check would be added to the inlet of the Ind ian Wash flume. Two

centerline checks would probably be required in the 730-cfs reach.

Thirty-two lateral turnouts and l5 farm turnouts would be replaced.

The initial capacities of the lateral turnouts range from 1 to 13 cfs,

while the farm turnout capacities range from 1 to 5 cfs.

Middle Government Highline Canal

The middle Government Highline Canal extends for 20 miles from

Indian Wash to the canal section lined under Stage One. Major existing

waterway structures in this reach include a l70-foot-long concrete flume

across Leach Creek, a 200-foot flume across a branch of Persigo Wash, a

33
