~

inflow average was 8,200 cfs. The reservoir reached a peak
elevation on June 25, when it was recorded at 6069.2 feet.

Special reservoir releases have been made this runoff season to
accommodate endangered fish studies being conducted on the San
Juan River. Reservoir releases peaked at 5,000 cfs for the first
10 days of June, since June 10 they have slowly been cut back.
The last of these release will occur on July 15, when the
reservoir outflow will be reduced from 1,300 cfs to 600 cfs.
This base flow of 600 cfs will continue through the rest of July
and August and into September.

Anyone needing further information about the daily operations of
Navajo Reservoir please contact Don Fazzan or Rege Leach in the
Durango Office at (970) 385-6500.

GLEN CANYON - Inflows to Lake Powell in June were about 168
percent of normal. Streamflows are rapidly receding throughout
the basin. The National Weather Service preliminary forecast for
the April - July unregulated runoff into Lake Powell was dropped
to 11.5 MAF, 148 percent of normal, a drop of 0.2 MAF from the
June mid-month forecast.

Glen Canyon Dam releases have been reduced to 21,000 cfs
beginning July 3 and will likely continue thus through the
summer. Lake Powell inflows are currently at about 30,000 cfs and
we expect the lake to rise to within 4 feet of full within the
next 2 weeks.

The Colorado River Management Work Group meetings to discuss the
1998 Annual Operating Plan for the entire Colorado River will
conclude w' ultation meeting scheduled for 9:30 am to
11:00 am, July 29, 7, at McCarren Airport in Las Vegas, NV.
Final lang or the 1998 AOP will be discussed. After the
meeting, we are tentatively scheduling a technical work group
meeting to continue the modeling of surplus and shortage options
for future reservoir operations. For further information contact
Randall Peterson at (801)524-3715 or Jayne Harkins at
(702)293-8190.
