Releases are
currently at 2,000 cubic feet per second (cfs). The reservoir
elevation is at 6496.52 feet with a live content of 273,262 acre-
feet.

FLAMING GORGE - On June 21, in the late afternnon, a failure
occured one of the bypass outlet tubes at Flaming Gorge Dam.
This triggered a complete shut-down of the powerplant and, for
about six hours, caused significant trouble as crews worked to
contain the damage and return stable flows to the Green River.
By midnight of June 21, the river was flowing a stable 4,000 cfs.

Since that time, significant work has been performed putting the
power plant back on line. As of June 29, all three of the
generating units have been up and running. We are now releasing
4500 cfs and all of this water is going through the power plant.

The dam and the bypass tube which did not fail have been
inspected thoroughly. The dam is safe and the bypass tube has
passed a complete inspection.

Releases from Flaming Gorge Dam will be reduced beginning on July
11. Daily average releases will be as shown in the following
schedule.

Date Release (cfs)
July 11 4100
July 12 3700
July 13 3300
July 14 2900
July 15 2500
July 16 2100
