<br />Application of the USFS. channel maintenance procedure to the Rock.
<br />Creek project illustrates the difficulty of. addressing questions related to
<br />sediment transport with a- generalized procedure. The need to. address a.
<br />wide range of site specific conditions requires a flexible procedure that
<br />is not subject to a handbook-type solution. Furthermore, the nature of
<br />sediment transport calculations requires specialized training snd ej<peri-
<br />ence to achieve realistic results. Even when a generalized procedure can
<br />be outlined, application of. .that procedure must be done with complete
<br />understanding of underlying assumptions and background conditions.
