A study of the same area
by the use of aerial photographs taken in 1962 shows that ir-
rigation had been expanded to a total of 35,200 acres. This
is an increase of 4,540 acres or 15 percent in the period from
1937 to 1962. A study of the location of the irrigated land
in relation to the availability of water indicates that appro x-
ir.:ately 30,400 acres of the 35,200 acres receives a full or near
full supply of irrigation water and that 4,800 acres are in need
of additional water for full crop production. Annual stream de-
pletion chargeable to irrigation is 36,600 acre feet.
The population of the basin as given in the 1960
census report is 5,560. This includes the population of the
several towns as well as the rural population. The 1930-1960
population growth was 2,490 for an 81 percent increase. The
annual stream depletion chargeable to domestic and municipal
use of water is estimated to be 1,$00 acre feet.

Present Stream Depletion - Units Acre Feet

':' Average annual stream depletion
by irrigation use of water
Average annual stream depletion by
domestic & municipal use of water
Total annual stream depletion

36,600

1,$00
3$,400

* Includes allowance for seeped land and water
surfaces without limitation to man-made depletion.

-10-

~" i'
