J. ,Carroll <br /> <br />I am pleased to enclose for your information the 1986 salinity operations <br />report under the agreement with Mexico entitled, "Permanent and Definitive <br />Solution to the International Problem of the Salinity of the Colorado River," <br />incorporated in Minute No. 242 of this Commission dated August 20, 1973. <br /> <br />The report states that the operations were in compliance with the agreement. <br />The differential for the calendar year 1986 between (1) the average salinity <br />of the waters delivered upstream of Morelos Dam and (2) the average salinity <br />of the Colorado River waters arriving at Imperial Dam was 21 ppm (US count), <br />10 ppm (Mexican count). <br /> <br />In 1986, the salinity differential was again low because of the 9,100,000 <br />acre-feet of excess waters in the Colorado River at the Northerly <br />International Boundary over and above the 1,700,000 acre-feet scheduled <br />deliveries to Mexico. <br /> <br />The report also describes developments relating to other provisions of Minute <br />No. 242. <br /> <br /> <br />D.
