<br />Downstream benefits derived from salt load reduction are estimated to be <br />$25.00 per ton of salt. local benefits consist of increased crop yields <br />derived from improvements to on-farm irrigation systems and management <br />practices, and employment benefits during construction. All local <br />benefits are included in this analysis, however, it is recognized that <br />some benefits will accrue through other than USDA programs such as the <br />canal and lateral improvements and the Irrigation Management Services <br />program. <br /> <br />Total installation costs amortized at 6-3/8 percent interest over 25 <br />years reflect the average annual costs. Dividing that cost by annual <br />net salt reduction for the four plans ranges between $8.90 and $14.20 <br />per ton. See Table 17. <br /> <br />16~8 <br /> <br />4S <br />
