WATE/! <br />CONSERVArllN 'fARD <br /> <br /> <br />3031 gO <br /> <br />what happens to the water that passes Kersey and supplies the irrigation <br /> <br />systems in Water Districts One and Sixty-four. <br /> <br />The stUdy is based on tabulat:l,ons of stream flows, divllrsions, <br />consumptive uses and return flows in the 140 mile valley between Kersey and <br /> <br /> <br />the State line near Julesburg. <br />The basic data was compiled from reports of the State Engineer, <br /> <br />u.S.o.S., records of the Water Commissioners of Districts One and Sixty-four, <br /> <br />and of some of the irrigation systems. <br /> <br />Honthly and yearly averages of the various tabulations were computed. <br /> <br /> <br />Stream discha!:'ges at Kersey, Bahac and Ju1esburg since about 1905 were <br /> <br />Il'ith IIIllre records available, similar studies for the past 20 years <br /> <br /> <br />tabulated by IIIllnths and averaged. <br /> <br />included dive!:'sions for both direct use and storage, consumptive uses and <br /> <br />return flows. "Years" are "water years" from October 1 to the following <br /> <br />September 30. <br />Some of the data was included in a report to the Directors of <br />Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District about a year ago. <br />It may be stated here that for practical purposes, Wate!:' District One <br />is nearly coeXtensive with Horgan County and District Sixty-four includes <br />the irrigated' areas in Il'ashington, Logan and Sedgwick counties. <br /> <br />-f <br /> <br />Taking a brief look at the long-time records we find an annual <br />average of 53~,000 acre-feet at Kersey, 250,000 at Balzac and 340,000 at <br />Julesburg. <br /> <br /> <br />8407 <br /> <br />k. <br />
